There has been quite a bit of talk about people taking advantage of advance polls for the current federal election.
The advance polls have been open throughout the Easter weekend. Locally, the poll in Drumheller has been located at the Newcastle Hall. When we were there to get a photo of the polling station, there were a number of vehicles on hand.
According to early numbers, the advance polls have been very busy nationwide for people voting the election. The precise numbers have not been verified as of yet. Elections Canada expects to release that information on Tuesday, April 22 for the nation and provinces. It is expected that totals from those who voted via advanced polls for both the Bow River and Battle River-Crowfoot ridings will be available by Wednesday or Thursday.
Today, (Monday, April 21), is the final day of the advanced polls. To determine where you are to vote in the advance polls, the information is included on your voter card that you should have received in the mail. The polls are open from 9 AM until 9 PM on Monday. Elections Canada advises that they anticipate the polls being busy this evening after many are done work (5 PM), so if you can, try to get there earlier.
Election Day is on Monday, April 28th. For those in the Battle River-Crowfoot riding, there is a planned All Candidates Forum, being hosted by the Drumheller and District Chamber of Commerce, on Thursday, April 24th at 6:30 PM.
