On March 21, 2025, Officers from the Drumheller RCMP Detachment, the Drumheller Municipal Traffic Unit, the Drumheller General Investigation Section, and from the Alberta RCMP Traffic Services Unit along with Peace Officers from Kneehill County, Starland County, and the Town of Drumheller, initiated another “Operation Street Sweep” in Drumheller and the surrounding counties. The operation involved a concerted effort to locate persons wanted on outstanding arrest warrants, conduct condition compliance checks on previously charged offenders, suppress crime, and conduct traffic safety operations.
As a result of the operation, a total of 39 traffic tickets and 9 traffic warnings were issued. Furthermore, 6 compliance checks were done on persons bound by court conditions resulting in no arrests and attempts were made to locate persons wanted on outstanding warrants resulting in no arrests. Specific breakdown of the operation:
- 27 violation tickets were issued for exceeding the posted speed limit;
- 4 violation ticket was issued for operate motor vehicle with expired registration;
- 2 violation tickets were issued for fail to stop at a stop sign;
- 2 violation tickets were issued for fail to wear seatbelt;
- 1 violation ticket was issued for misuse of licence plate on a motor vehicle;
- 1 violation ticket was issued for using cellular phone while operating a motor vehicle;
- 1 violation ticket was issued for operate motor vehicle with no insurance;
- 1 violation ticket was issued for fail to restrain child in child seat;
- 9 warnings were issued for various traffic offences;
- 6 compliance checks were done on persons bound by court conditions – all persons were found to be compliant; and
- Attempts were made to locate persons on outstanding arrest warrants but no arrests were made.
