It looks like changes are in store for the Member of Parliament for the Bow River riding.
MP Martin Shields has been the MP for the riding, which stretches from Strathmore in the west to Tilley in the east, and from Linden in the north to Taber in the south, for the past 10 years. Last week he announced that he has decided not to run in the next federal election.
With that in mind, and the next election on the near horizon, the Conservative Party of Canada has opened up nominations to replace MP Shields. So far three have put their name forward, Graham Abela from Taber, JL DeCosta from Chestermere, and David Bexte from Bow River.
Constituents can vote for the new Conservative representative but must be card carrying members of the party. The deadline to purchase a membership is Thursday, February 13th.
