If you drive along the North Dinosaur Trail near St. Anthony’s School, you may notice a large landslide by the football field.
This area had a landslide a couple of years ago and significant work was completed to stabilize the hillside, to hopefully prevent another slide and protect the football field area. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had a different plan.
In a statement from Christ The Redeemer School Division, they are working to improve the situation. “Christ The Redeemer (CTR) Catholic Schools is addressing the hill slide behind St. Anthony School which includes immediate measures to place fencing around the area to ensure student safety. CTR Catholic has already engaged with geotechnical professionals to work toward longer term solutions.”
A local contractor did work on the site to stabilize the hillside, with consultations from geotechnical professionals. All are somewhat surprised by the slide of the hillside. The slide has not made it as far as the playing field and Christ The Redeemer has put up fencing to keep students and the public away from the unstable area.
