Time is ticking away on the upcoming Federal Election which is scheduled for Monday, April 28th.
The Drumheller area consists of two electoral districts, Battle River-Crowfoot and Bow River. Candidates had until Wednesday, April 9th to confirm that they plan to run in the general election and five candidates have confirmed for both the Battle River-Crowfoot constituency and the Bow River constituency.

Battle River-Crowfoot (in alphabetical order)
- Jonathan Bridges – People’s Party of Canada PPC
- Bridges is born and raised in south-central Alberta
- A truck and trailer mechanic by trade
- Represented the PPC in Bow River in 2021 but with the redrawing of the electoral borders, now hopes to represent the Battle River-Crowfoot riding
- Douglas Gook – Green Party of Canada
- Damien Kurek – Conservative Party of Canada
- Fifth generation farmer from east-central Alberta
- Incumbent and has represented the Battle River-Crowfoot constituency in both the 2019 and 2021 elections
- Worked in the oil and gas sector for nearly a decade
- James MacKay – New Democratic Party
- Brent Sutton – Liberal Party of Canada
- Born in Saskatchewan and raised on a farm
- Since 2019, has been very active in federal politics, sitting as a board member on an electoral district association
- Married and has two adult children.
Bow River
- Bentley Barnes – Liberal Party of Canada
- Born in Brandon, Manitoba, lived in Medicine Hat, and raised his family in Brooks
- Worked at Lakeside Packers, Global Thermal in Bassano, managed Bassano Grocers
- Governor of the Midget A Hockey League, hockey and soccer coach
- David Bexte – Conservative Party of Canada
- 25 years in Alberta’s energy sector, rising to Vice President of Schlumberger Canada
- Also runs a multi-generational farm
- Born, raised, and works in the Bow River riding
- Louisa Gwin – New Democratic Party
- Called Chestermere home for the past three years
- 12 years of experience in the construction industry now working as a Commercial Construction Estimator for a general contractor
- Married with two daughters
- Tom Lipp – Christian Heritage Party of Canada
- Lived in the Bow River riding for over 20 years
- Certified as a Chartered Professional Accountant in Alberta
- Married with ten children and ten grandchildren
- Aaron Patton – United Party of Canada
Polling Stations for the upcoming election are still being finalized but when we receive a finalized list we will update the story.
