The first lane of the Gordon Taylor Bridge was rehabilitated last year and it looks like the second half of the project is getting underway.
The first step of the work for this year begins Monday, March 31st with the installation of bird netting under the Gordon Taylor Bridge. The team from Everett Construction started this morning and the bird netting work is expected to take about five days to complete. During this time, there will be lane closures with two flaggers directing traffic across the bridge. Work is expected to be conducted between 8 AM and 7 PM. The bridge will resume to two lane traffic during the evening and overnight hours.
This work is in anticipation of the rehabilitation of the west lane of the bridge which, depending on weather, will begin on April 14th for the duration of the spring, summer, and fall. It is hoped that the work will be complete in the fall of this year. While construction occurs on the west portion of the bridge, pedestrian crossings (the sidewalk) will be maintained by the contractor and available during the entire duration of the construction.
