On Thursday, January 16th, Padua Hall at St. Anthony’s School was filled with beautiful wood projects, amazing art, and delicious food with the Fine Arts CAFE.
The senior high students in Art, Foods, and Construction classes at St. Anthony’s School showcased a number of projects for the public to enjoy. Kelly Eddy, Foods teacher at St. Anthony’s shares why they believed this event was important for the students. “I think our school does a really good job of celebrating academics, spirituality, and we wanted to really celebrate the art side of things. I think bringing construction and foods into the light for a moment, really gives those kids a chance to shine.”
The construction students showcases a number pieces that they have been working on. The art class students presented a number of works in different mediums. The foods class made homemade ice cream and fresh pasta for all to enjoy. Mrs. Eddy and the other instructors were very proud of the kids showcasing their talents. “I think the fact that I can stand here and have an interview with you and not do any work, tells me that they are doing a fantastic job. I’m extremely proud of them.”
The event was quite well attended and Eddy was impressed on the number of attendees. “For a first event, this is awesome. It is full, there is life, people are talking about food, art, and pieces in construction that students made. That’s really all we want for their success.”
Also as part of the event, the public could vote on their favourite artistic piece and the student who created the winning piece would get recognition. “We had some anonymous donors step forward and donate a $100 gift card from Michaels, so for whatever crafting they do, they will have the money to do that in their free time.”
It was a fantastic showcase and hopefully will become an annual event.
