On Thursday morning, traffic was tied up at the corner of 3rd Avenue West and 2nd Street West due to a small accident.
A driver of a large truck which was towing a seacan gooseneck trailer was trying to exit the parking lot at the Valley Plaza turning right onto the eastbound lane of 3rd Avenue West. The driver took the corner too sharp causing the trailer to hit the adjacent traffic light standard.
The driver had some damage to the tailgate of the truck and had to get the trailer towed away by a towing company. Drumheller RCMP were on hand to direct traffic as the trailer blocked the southbound lanes of Highway 9. It took crews about 45 minutes to move the trailer and open the intersection back to traffic.
