Your Drumheller Dragons ended their 2024 portion of their season with a split over the weekend.
On Friday night. the team paid their first visit of the season to Canmore. From all accounts it was quite a contested affair between the two teams. The Eagles opened the scoring midway through the first when Zach Coutu scored on the powerplay. The Dragons would tie the game at 13:56 when Bradley Gallo scored his league leading 22nd goal of the year, from Easton Daneault and Ellis Mieyette. Then, with only 23 seconds left in the period, Easton Daneault (11) would give the Dragons the lead, assisted by Bradley Gallo and Ellis Mieyette.
In the second period, Canmore would tie the game 2-2 when Owen Jones scored with 10:57 left. Both teams would have their opportunities to take the lead but the game would remain tied going into the third period.
Late in the third, Drumheller would take a holding penalty, and that would be costly as Canmore’s Kayden Rawji would score the game winning goal with 3:49 left, giving Canmore the 3-2 lead and subsequent victory.

Saturday would be the final game of 2024 for your Dragons as they played host to the expansion Devon Xtreme for the first time.
The Dragons would open the scoring in the first period with a goal by forward Allen Sherpa (4), assisted by Aiden Connell and Jase Johnstone. Drumheller would outshoot Devon 11 to 7 and take the 1-0 lead into the second period.
The Xtreme would even the score early in the second with a goal by Tyler Pretty at 4:37. Devon would then take the lead just over two minutes later with a goal by Kai Billey. Cue the comeback for the Dragons as Bradley Gallo scored is 23rd of the year from Ellis Mieyette and Easton Daneault at 14:19. Then, at 17:05, Easton Daneault scored his 12th of the year from Nathan Hawkins and Louis Nadeau. Finally, with 35 seconds left, Dragons captain, Tate Yule, scored his third of the year, from Louis Nadeau, giving the Dragons the 4-2 lead heading into the third period.
Devon had their chances in the third and with time running out decided to pull goaltender Logan Cunningham. Ellis Mieyette (6) would score into the empty net with 3:38 left making it 5-2 Drumheller. With the net empty once again, Devon would add a goal with 1:31 left, scored by Levy Kozma. Devon would pull their goaltender after winning the faceoff but would turn over the puck in the Dragons zone. With only 10 seconds left, Allen Sherpa would score his second goal of the game, fifth of the year, from Lauchlan Kozicky and Luca Dufor, making the final score 6-3 Drumheller.
With the win, the Dragons end the 2024 portion of their season in fourth place, four points back of Camrose for third and only eight points behind Canmore for first in the division.
