In July of 2024, Drumheller RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) officers initiated a drug trafficking investigation in and around the community of Drumheller. On Dec. 12, 2024, at approximately 3:35 a.m., Drumheller GIS, along with General Duty members from Drumheller RCMP and Hanna RCMP, executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 700 block of 3 Avenue West in Drumheller. Two females and one male were arrested at the scene.
RCMP searched the residence and located quantities of fentanyl, cocaine, Canadian currency, and other drug trafficking evidence.
38-year-old Lindsay Hrenyk and 54-year-old Jeffery Burke, both residents of Drumheller, were jointly charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking x 2; and
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000.
Burke was also found to be bound by a conditional sentence order (CSO) and subject to 3 breach allegations.
Burke and Hrenyk were remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in the Drumheller Alberta Court of Justice on Dec. 13, 2024, to answer to his charges.
One female was released from custody with no charges. RCMP continue to investigate this matter and note that additional charges are pending.
