Our Drumheller Dragons have a number of rookies on the team this year and one is being recognized by the AJHL for his stellar performance over the past week.
Dragons forward Ellis Mieyette has been selected at the Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week and for the third time already this season.
Mieyette has a great week in two home games on both Wednesday and Friday. Wednesday last week, Mieyette had a goal and an assist in the Dragons 4-0 routing of the Whitecourt Wolverines. Then, on Friday night, Mieyette assisted on three goals as the Dragons pulled out a 4-1 win over the Fort McMurray Oil Barons.
With his five points in two games, Mieyette added to his lead atop all rookie scoring with 26 points, 5 goals and 21 assists. He currently sits in second in league scoring and has seven multi-point games so far this season.
The Dragons have a light schedule this week with only one game on tap, Sunday afternoon against the Calgary Canucks. Currently the Canucks are in third place, one point ahead of the Dragons with one game in hand. The game will be at the Ken Bracko Arena starting at 2 PM. We will have the game for you on “The Home of The Dragons” New Country 92.5 with Jason Blanke and Boedy Shields, starting with the Western GM Pregame Show at 1:45 PM.
