In a surprising announcement via social media, the Drumheller Performing Arts Festival has announced that there will be no festival for 2025.
The festival which has been in our community for over 85 years, is taking the year off to fortify the organization. Jaclyn Skytt, President of the Drumheller Performing Arts Festival shared a letter to teachers and performers on November 2nd. Within the letter they shared that “after careful consideration, we have decided to cancel the Drumheller Performing Arts Festival for the 2025 season. This was not an easy decision for the committee. We understand that this is disappointing for many, however, it is an important step in ensuring that Drumheller has a performing arts festival for many years to come.”
The reasoning behind the move is trying to strengthen the organization so that the festival can continue and grow according to Skytt. “Our primary goal is to strengthen the organization and enhance the quality of festival we offer to participants and audiences alike. We believe that by taking this time to build our membership and explore new strategies for registration, we can create a more competitive and engaging festival in the future.”
Skytt has shared that they have had more people step up to be part of the organization but shares that there is always room for more at the board table. If you are interested in helping with the Drumheller Performing Arts Festival, message them through their Facebook page.
