Your Drumheller Dragons were hoping for a better outcome on Saturday night as they continued their three game road trip.
Coming off a 7-2 loss against the Grande Prairie Storm on Friday night, the team was looking to bounce back against the Storm on Saturday evening. The Dragons start on the right foot as they would open the scoring at the 5:28 mark of the first period. Easton Daneault scored his 5th of the season, from Ellis Mieyette and Bradley Gallo. The Storm would tie the game late in the first period on a goal by Tomis Marinkovic at 16:54. The teams would remain tied 1-1 after one period.
In the second period, The Dragons would get a power play opportunity but would turn the puck over at the Storm blue line. Will Harris of Grande Prairie would capitalize on the breakaway and score his 6th of the year at 8:59. On the same man-advantage, the Dragons would tie the game with Ayden Peters scoring his 6th of the year, from Avery Johnson and Allen Sherpa, at 9:35. The Storm would regain the lead with 5:54 remaining in the second period with Chayse Laurie scoring. Grande Prairie would take the 3-2 lead into the third period.
Drumheller would battle in the first couple of minutes of the third and would be rewarded as Lachlan Kozicky scored his first of the year at 3:08, assisted by Allen Sherpa. The game would remain tied 3-3 though the third, although the Dragons would have their chances to score the winner. The game would need overtime. At 1:24, Storm forward Will Harris would fire one on Matthew Kondro who would make the initial save but the puck would sneak past and Storm forward Alec Hall tipped the puck into the wide open net to win the game for Grande Prairie, 4-3.
