As the Drumheller Dragons prepare to embark on their 22nd season in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, the team again is partnering with Stingray Radio.
Your Drumheller Dragons will again be on the radio with 20 regular season away games along with all road playoff games on New Country 92.5 (formerly New Country 910). Boedy Shields, Director of Operations with the Dragons understands the importance of the relationship between the team and the media. “So many people go to the radio station for their daily news and that includes Dragons news. Not only are so many fans listening in when we’re on the road to myself and (Jason Blanke) on the radio broadcasts, but the daily updates on what is going on in Dragons world and the games coming up in the week ahead. It is great exposure and really builds a presence in the community with such a valuable listener base that you guys have.”
Within the 20 games on the road this season, one in particular stands out in Canmore. The Dragons will be playing the Canmore Eagles during Hockey Day in Canada in Canmore. “It’s a really cool event that they put on. They have been all over Canada and this year, Canmore was the lucky winner. That day they will have a schedule of games. I believe there are some collegiate games going on and then we will be the finale at night. That game will be on the Sportsnet broadcast and hopefully we can get some lucky guests to join us on the broadcast. I’m really excited for that game.”
With the changes to the AJHL last season, it was announced earlier this spring that a 12th team has joined the league, the Devon Xtreme and the only visit to Devon will be on the broadcast schedule as well. The full schedule is below:
